Choosing a Car from the US

Anyone who has ever considered buying a car from the US will have come across adverts promising savings of up to 45 per cent and other enticing slogans. Yet those who have already acquired their long-awaited ‘dream’ car from America often no longer wish to have anything to do with buying a car from the States.

So what’s the truth?

In 2021 alone, 100,000 cars were imported from the US to Ukraine. At the same time, more than half of the buyers didn’t get what they wanted: instead of the promised $20,000, the car ended up costing $25,000; under the guise of ‘high-quality repairs’, the owner received a car with airbags cut out and a soldered headlight; a customer was left walking for half a year instead of the promised two months, and so on.

What do we offer?

JustAcar is not the sort of company that will talk up huge savings or deliberately underestimate the cost of repairs when calculating the price of a car, just to get the customer to pay a deposit. Our approach is based on transparency and honesty:

1. Consultation

Our collaboration begins with a free consultation. When speaking with you, we find out exactly what sort of car you’re looking for. We analyse the prices of cars sold at auctions in the US over the last six months and, based on sales statistics, provide information on how much it would cost to buy your desired car. Only if you are satisfied with this do we draw up a contract; you pay a refundable deposit, and we begin the search. The deposit is 10 per cent of the car’s auction price, but no less than $1,000.

2. Car search

The process of searching for and bidding on your desired car can take as little as one day or stretch over a year, depending on the car model and the client’s requirements. Our record for finding a car in America is 9 months, and we set that record ourselves.

We create a group on Telegram or Viber and send you options that are available for bidding. You confirm which cars you like. Then, on the day of the auction, we work out the figures and send you a quote with the final cost of the car, including the number plates; we check the vehicle’s history using the VIN code and bid on it.

3. Buying the car

Once we’ve won the bid, we issue an invoice for payment. The client pays for the car. Please pay the invoice the following day to avoid penalties for late payment of the auction.

4. Car delivery to Poland

The car has been paid for. We collect the car from the auction site and take it to a warehouse in the US, load it into a container and ship it by vessel to the port of Klaipėda. Delivery times range from 35 to 60 days. The customer is provided with a personal account where they can view the delivery status, as well as photographs of the car from the US warehouse, before loading and after unloading at the port of Klaipėda. The cars are insured; if any additional damage occurs during transport, the insurance will cover the losses. The customer pays for delivery two weeks before the car arrives at the port of Klaipėda.

5. Customs clearance

Our broker provides an invoice for customs duties. The customer pays the customs charges.

We clear cars through customs. Customs clearance takes up to 2 days. Only the person in whose name the car is being cleared is required to pay.

6. Delivery to our service centre / the customer’s city

We transport the car by tow truck from customs to our partner service centre when the ‘turnkey’ service is ordered, or to the customer’s city when the ‘standard’ service is ordered. Self-collection is also possible.

7. Repairs and spare parts

We restore the car, agreeing on the stages and details with the customer. We personally purchase spare parts and oversee the repair process. At every stage, from defect repair to painting and reassembly, we provide the customer with a photo and video report. We service the vehicle: polishing, dry cleaning, oil and filter changes, wheel alignment, and more. Repair times depend on the severity of the damage and range from 14 days to 2 months.

8. Certification and Registration

We undergo certification to ensure compliance with European standards. We register the vehicle at a service centre, where it is issued with a vehicle registration certificate and number plates. You receive a clean and serviced car.
